Quick reference

• US trip, $20 fare: tip $3 to $4 (15 to 20 percent).
• US trip, $50 fare: tip $8 to $10.
• UK trip, £14.30 fare: round up to £15 or £16, or tip £1.50 for good service.
• UK trip, £40 fare: round to £44 or add 10 percent.

Splitting the bill
